Put the light
where you want it.
Instant Studio Lighting replaces the light in a photo you already have. Nothing is cut out, moved or reframed. The room, the objects and the camera angle stay exactly as they were, and only the light is new.
Five things you set
Every one of them reaches the model. Nothing is decided for you behind the scenes.
Position
Twenty-six places to stand the light: in front of the scene, level with it or behind it, and at each of those, high, level or low, to the left, centre or right.
Quality
Soft wraps the subject and leaves a gentle shadow edge. Hard is crisper. Sharp cuts a hard line, the way an undiffused lamp does.
Brightness
Nought to a hundred. How much of the picture the key carries, and how deep everything it misses is allowed to go.
Colour
From tungsten warmth to open shade, in Kelvin. Neutral is exactly neutral: at 5600 K the light adds no cast at all, so a white shoe stays white.
Size
Standard renders 1024 px on the longest side, High renders 2048 px. Pick High when the photo is going somewhere it will be seen large.
The same photograph, relit
Five photos taken in ordinary light, and the relight of each. The settings under every pair are the ones that produced it.
What a relight costs
1 credit for a Standard 1024 px relight.
2 credits for a High 2048 px relight.
The app shows the cost before you press Generate, and the server, not the app, decides it. If a generation fails, the credits go back automatically.
Credits come in packs of 10, 25 and 60, bought inside the app. The App Store and Google Play set the prices and show them in your own currency. There is no subscription.
Before you download
- Platforms
- iPhone and Android phones. Portrait only; there is no tablet layout yet.
- Account
- Email and password. Your photo library in the app is yours alone and is never shared between accounts.
- Purchases
- Credit packs of 10, 25 and 60. One-time purchases, no subscription, no free trial.
- Tracking
- None. The app does not follow you across other apps or websites and does not sell personal data.
- Your photos
- Uploaded to relight, then deleted. Results stay on our servers for up to 24 hours; the copy you export to Photos stays until you remove it.
- Deleting your account
- From inside the app, in one step. It removes your library and pseudonymises what the law requires us to keep.
- Results vary
- Relighting is generative. Left, right, front and behind land reliably; height is less exact, and a light asked for from below often reads as low frontal light.
